How fun

So, the Boston Tea Party national committee has moved (by chair Darryl Perry) and seconded (by Todd Andrew Barnett) a motion to open nominations for the remaining at large position on the national committee.

I gather that moving and seconding is sufficient to cause this motion to come into effect. I am eagerly anticipating an official page for nominations, so I can nominate Tom Knapp. Maybe someone would second that nomination. And, who knows, maybe Tom would accept the nomination, though I gather he might not.

Plans and Opportunities

People sometimes ask me why I'm involved in the Boston Tea Party. The answer is: because of the platform.

As a fan of Murray Rothbard's button to end the state, stop the wars, and free the slaves, what I really want is no externally imposed, coercive government at any level on any issue. Therefore I am very interested in identifying the extremely few candidates who are for smaller government on all issues and at all levels. Among other things identifying such candidates does is: it illustrates how little chance there really is for reforming the tyranny by working within the system.

Our tea party is bigger than yours

It must be our use of bulk tea instead of bags. I learned today that there are 600 registered convention attendees at the Tea Party national gathering in Tennessee. Sarah Palin is getting a big chunk of their money for her speaking engagement, if I understand things right.

So, we have more people in our party. Or, more memberships. See the front page for the most recent count.

It seems to me that we have an opportunity to be "the" tea party by undertaking the following:

Being Sovereign

My second book was published by Individual Sovereign University late last year. And almost immediately sent in for major format revision. The second printing is now available.

The book is "Being Sovereign" and is available here:

This book should also be available, soon, from Amazon and other book distributors.

Attribute to The Libertarian Enterprise

So, I went to the Virgin Galactic fan page here on Facebook and made a comment on their wall. When the winning flight for the X Prize took place in 2004, Sir Richard Branson, knight of the Hanoverian usurpation, said that there would be tourist flights in 2007. Call it three years or 36 months. Some of us were even sent marketing materials and sign-up packets so we could evaluate the proposal to charge $200K or more for an eight minute flight above the atmosphere with half a dozen other people.

Special to The Libertarian Enterprise

When I met Rick Maybury in July 2000 he was speaking at the world congress of the International Society for Individual Liberty. If you haven’t been to one, you should make plans to visit Panama next Summer. Sandy Sandfort and I are putting one together, and I think it’ll be a lot of fun.

The government spies on you. That's true no matter where you live or what "the government" means in your case. The odds that no government is spying on you are much less than the odds that more than one government is spying on you at the same time.

Ammunition control infringes our right to keep and bear arms

John Silveira has the story:

http://www.backwoodshome.com/articles2/silveira116lw.html

"It's been proposed in 18 states and, with some minor difference among them, here's what it will do once enacted:

* Each box of ammo you buy will have a unique number.

* Each round in the box will have a laser-etched number on the base of the bullet and on the inside of the cartridge case that corresponds to the number on the box.

* Each time you buy ammo you will have to show ID with your name, date of birth, driver's license, etc., to be recorded so the box will be tied to you.
