Tom Knapp for Vice President: What you can expect

Having accepted the "nomination for the nomination" -- that is, having agreed to stand for election as our party's 2008 vice-presidential nominee -- I owe it to my fellow BTP members to tell them why they should support me.

I offer three simple pledges:

I am not a wealthy man, but if at all possible I will travel to appear at campaign events in the states where we achieve ballot access, or to HELP us achieve ballot access, or to assist in the formation and promotion of new state affiliates.

I will not only accept, but actively seek, opportunities to positively represent (or book our presidential nominee to represent) the party's ticket on talk radio and in other media.

I will proactively promote the party's platform and program, and work with our presidential nominee to create a campaign approach that accords with the party's aims in both letter and spirit.

Apart from being constitutionally qualified for the office (which I am), I don't think that any vice-presidential nominee can offer the party much more than those three things. I'm certain that my fellow candidates for our party's vice-presidential nomination can and will offer the same; the judgment as to who can best deliver on those pledges is yours to make.

Beyond those three pledges and the basic qualifications, the only thing I have to offer you is my personal devotion to the party. This election is our first, best chance to build the party's membership and name recognition, to establish its stature as a party of strong principles and serious intentions, to learn the ropes of achieving ballot access by actually doing so, to make the case for liberty to those who are listening ... and ensure that more people are listening when we're done than when we started. If nominated, I pledge to devote my efforts to making sure we do those things and do them well.

Yours in liberty,
Tom Knapp

I expect that most of our ticket's Internet campaigning will be operated out of the presidential nominee's web site, but I've taken the liberty of setting up a vice-presidential blog at:

http://www.myfrontporchcampaign.com

It's very much "under construction" at the moment, but if nominated I'll be using it as a repository for issues articles, press releases, appearance announcements, etc.

Yours in liberty,
Tom Knapp
