A Reversal of An Ill-Thought Decision
After having a discussion with BTP National Chairman Doug Gaking, I have, in one way reluctantly and another way with great mixed feelings, decided not to step down from my seat that I have set for August 7. I will serve out the remainder of the term until 2010, but I will not run again after that point.
However, my defunct, nonexistent relationship with Jim Davidson stands.
Yours in Liberty in Perpetuity,
Todd Andrew Barnett
Returning Secretary, Boston Tea Party

This has been a tough year for the committee. We are not career politicians. We have jobs and personal priorities that demand our attention on a full time basis. However, we all try to serve this committee to our best ability in the interest of serving the great platform of this party.
I know Todd has a very busy schedule. I do too, as I have just accepted a new job and will be working more hours toward my career while I try to continue serving this committee.
I hope the members of the party understand the stress of the position our national committee members as we all try to manage these conflicts. It is somewhat a weakness for us that our party has to go through this. However, it is a strength for our cause that those who run the national committee are volunteers concerned for the cause, rather than employees enjoying a paycheck.
I would like to use this as opportunity to point out that there is a vacancy on the committee. If you are interested in serving the party as an at large member of the committee, please let us know with a post on this site or the BTPNC-talk group.
Further, the party will only truly have success in 2010 and 2012 if we have active state affiliates. What the national committee does is truly not as important as what you do in your state to get libertarians cooperating for our cause and to get candidates on the ballot for elections.

I'll serve if the committee and members will have me. Since the birth of my daughter and all the craziness involved with that is now over with, I have much more free time on my hands.
You can email me if you would like to discuss this further.
