Official FEC Results for 2008

The Federal Election Commission has finally released its official election results for the 2008 presidential and congressional elections. Here is how Boston Tea Party candidates finished.

  • Presidential candidate Charles Jay received 2,424 votes.
  • Presidential candidate George Phillies received 531 votes.

States counted 112,597 "miscellaneous" write-in votes that were not divided up by candidate. This certainly would have given Charles Jay and George Phillies more votes.

Here is how some of our candidates for Congress finished.

Candidates for U.S. Senate:

  • Christopher Cole (NC): 133,430 votes (3.12%)
  • Daniel Towers Lewis (TN): 9,367 votes (0.39%)

Candidates for U.S. House of Representatives:

  • James M. Eyer (CA-9): 11,704 votes (4.22%)
  • Michael Benoit (CA-52): 13,316 votes (4.67%)
  • Mark Anthony Parks (DE): 3,586 votes (0.93%)
  • Neil Kiernan Stephenson (MI-10): 4,632 votes (1.33%)
  • Thomas L. Knapp (MO-2): 8,628 votes (2.31%)
  • B.J. Lawson (NC-4): 153,947 votes (36.68%)
  • Joseph Geddes Buchman (UT-1): 6,780 votes (2.23%)

The Boston Tea Party's ten candidates for national offices received a total of 348,345 votes, averaging 5.588% in their elections.

VTV:

It probably deserves mentioning that I came in above the Green Party's candidate Candice Caveny.

dwp2016:

These totals do not include the undisclosed amount of write-in votes I received in the US Senate election from Alabama; since the State didn't feel like doing a tally of write-in votes.
Overall, the BTP did well in it's first set of elections, and better things are in the BTP's future.

bstrent:

Under the current ballot access laws....does this mean the party retains ballot access in some states due to the % of the vote that was recieved?

dwp2016:

The BTP should remain ballot qualified in Florida, although that may depend on whether the State party decides to re-affiliate with the national BTP for the next Presidential election. I believe most of the candidates for Federal office were cross endorsed and not actually on the ballot under the BTP label.

planetaryjim:

I expect Darcy Richardson, Charles Jay, and the rest of that crew are too timid to do anything definite. They'll be neither fish nor fowl. There have been several months since the BTP national committee offered to re-affiliate. They are either lazy, stupid, or evil. Possibly a combination or permutation of all three.

VTV:

They don't want to re-affiliate because of you Jim. Using that as an example of them being "lazy", "stupid" or "evil" is rather silly. Though you calling them names probably just re-enforces their reasoning.

planetaryjim:

Well how odd that they would choose as their spokesperson you, VTV, since you don't live in their state.

And, I am delighted to learn that I have such power over stupid lazy and evil people to prevent them from affiliating with the national party. It is extremely silly that they "won't" affiliate with a group that I'm not running, and with which I have no national office of any kind. What do they fear? That I'll call them what they are? lol

It seems to me that anyone is free to form a state affiliate in Florida. Though, with the national committee sitting around with their several thumbs up their various butts, doing nothing, it is unclear why anyone would want to create a state affiliate for this party.

I see that VTV has formed the Death Camp Caucus of the Boston Tea Party, dedicated to all the ills that collective ownership of all resources brings.

No Jim. They are afraid, rightfully so that someone might in some way have any prejudices towards them for being in the same party as you. They are concerned that someone may meet you, get the impression that the party must be full of mentally disturbed paranoid bullies and not want to associate with them.

Your "death camp caucus" crap is further proof of your mental issues.

I guess it is fortunate for you that we still don't advocate force or coercion. You will be quite safe to run your mouth and pick fights all the while pretending to be against violence.

just wanted clarification.
