To all of the fellow patriots who showed for the tea party in DC and throughout the country a heart felt thank you. Until yesterday I was skeptical that there were enough interested people to make a difference. Figures don't lie and liars don't figure. The figures for the attendees ranged from 500 to 1.5 million. When I see photos of the crowds I have to think it is closer to the latter. What I do know is that the warm bodies stretched from the White House lawn to the big long pointy thing at the back of the mall. In the beginning it was announced that we did not have a permit to include the mall. However, once the north and south lawns were filled to capacity they had to allow the mall to be used. Otherwise the streets would remain blocked due to the throngs of people. I now know what Jesus meant when he said that the rocks would cry out. I was about three rows from the front and could not believe what I saw when I looked back. Every time I looked back the crowd was bigger. I was especially touched by the message.
My wife Jennifer and I have always believed it was about losing the labels. It is no longer about democrat or republican, black or white, rich or poor, It is about common sense government. It is no more complicated than the constitution. Words mean what they say. I had a three letter message to all my workers, RFI. any time they asked me how to do a task that they should know how to do I said RFI. When asked what RFI meant I responded read the instructions. Then they would ask what the F stood for.
I say all this to say that the constitution is an instruction manual. It operates our representative republic. The reason our country is in so much trouble is that we allow people to operate our government without reading the instruction manual. If we force our elected officials to run the government according to the constitution we will get the country out of the condition that it is in.
I began a web site not long ago that I hope will catch on. I borrowed the tea party concept and call it "theteapartycandidate.com". It is dedicated to bringing the country back to the basics, THE CONSTITUTION. I would like it to turn into an official party, like any of the other party's we have. Its platform will be based on the founding principals that built this country. The candidates that it nominates and supports will be held to the oath they already swear to. However, they will actually have to support and defend the constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic, including colleagues from their own ranks. They will have to understand and agree that the constitution is more than just a founding document. The constitution is an agreement between the government and the governed. A contract that is clearly spelled out and not negotiable. We have to hold them to their agreement. It’s real simple.
I’m asking anyone who cares to help with this project to either email ideas to me at kevinzurrin@theteapartycandidate.com, or post on the blog, blog.theteapartycandidate.com. We need an official platform clearly outlining the principals of this party. We need to identify and nominate people who will adhere to these principals. These people can include those presently in the congress or senate who operate according to the constitution already. Just like the tea party concept caught on, the tea party candidate should be honored to be recognized by this organization. Like it or not we are the tea party. I will be registering to vote this week. If it is at all possible I will choose the tea party as my party affiliation.
So, as we called the 912 DC tea party a beginning to a new revolution I hope the tea party is the beginning of a new political party that is dedicated to the principals that this country was founded on. This is a rallying point. Our founding fathers pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor, What will we pledge?
